Dear fellow forest lovers,
At Snakeroot, I am carefully easing into a limited slate of guided walks and hikes. After spending the spring in rich wildflower coves with members of my own household, I am now happy to offer several options for private, socially distant, off-the-beaten-path outings. Please email to arrange a custom hike. I strive to operate in a thoughtful and ethical manner in each element of Snakeroot’s operations -- always prioritizing the health of our mountain ecosystems and the safety of clients during our rich experiences. Over the coming weeks, I plan to proceed with caution, balancing public health needs with the needs of individuals and families to connect with our wonderful forests.
We will also host May and June firefly walks. Fortunately, our business model can be modified to conform with the CDC’s and North Carolina’s current guidance for operating in a safe manner. Group sizes will be small (up to 8 individuals), and we will limit the groups to no more than 3 separate households. This makes the reservation system a tad more complicated. Firefly walks will be $75 for the first 1-2 people in the household, $35 for each additional adult, and $20 for children. So when you register online, know that your first ticket is good for up to two members of the same household.
We will be outside the entire time (as usual), participants will be required to wear a mask or face covering, and everyone will be asked to do their best to maintain 6’ of space from folks who are not in their household unit (I will provide glow-tape to help make everyone visible to each other). If you are in a high risk category as designated by NCDHHS, please stay home.
In all of our operations during this pandemic, we will continue to do our best to provide quality experiences while balancing the needs of public health.
Stay healthy and safe, and I hope to see you out on the trails, sooner or later!
